Steps to Getting Started
Step 1 Send me an email or leave a brief voice mail message indicating your request. Before scheduling an appointment in the office, I generally schedule a brief phone consultation (15-20 mins) to determine if we are good fit to work together. Please note that I may have limited availability, and if so, may be able to offer you other local referrals.
Step 2 During our phone consultation, I will ask you what you are hoping for, answer questions you may have, talk about the process of therapy, and discuss my fee. We will determine whether working together makes sense.
Step 3 You are welcome to consider the logistics of scheduling with me – considering the schedule, checking with family members, calling your insurance to see if they reimburse for my services.
Step 4 If you decide that I am not the right person to help you, that’s no problem! It’s important that you find someone you feel is a good fit. I am happy to provide you with other names of therapists or services if you request.
Step 5 After we have talked, if we decide to schedule a first appointment, I will email you a link to my secure client portal where you can fill out information about yourself and why you are seeking therapy. I will also forward you a copy of my client disclosure form, an optional credit card authorization form, and the notice of privacy practices. You can bring your questions about these forms to our first session.
Step 6 The first session is generally 60 minutes, and will allow me to get a comprehensive view of your needs. It will also give you the chance to meet me and see if I am a good fit for you. I will provide an assessment and recommendation for treatment approach, and discuss your goals for our work together.
Step 7 You are welcome to decide if you’d like to continue, and if so, we will schedule our next session.
