Family Therapy

I am comfortable with your family members and loved ones in the room. This can allow for important work to be done in the relationships that matter to you the most. When children and adolescent issues are the focus, it is often helpful to include parents or caregivers for some or all of the sessions, to support new understandings and preferred changes. Often important work is done in these joint sessions.

If you are not able to have family members present, we can address family systems influences (family, community, work, culture) in our individual work.

Issues I work with:

Family communication and relationships, support around a loved one’s mental health or medical issues, divorce and recovery, parenting and co-parenting, adjustment to family changes, life transitions, LGBTQ issues and concerns, grief and loss and extended family issues. For families coping with a youth or young adult with an eating disorder, I often use Family Based Treatment (FBT).
